Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST)


Service Description

40 Hour Course (5-Days) The Canadian Criminal Justice Academy (CCJA) in partnership with Alberta Justice & Solicitor General is proud to present the Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST) training course. This 40-hour ABST course as delivered by the instructors of CCJA, is consistent with the training objectives set out by the Government of Alberta. This course will enable you to obtain your licence to work as a security guard in a wide variety of industries. This course is designed for those interested in security and safety and is required to obtain your licence. Security guards hired in our province are engaged in protecting Alberta’s diverse and comprehensive network of industries. Whether assigned to monitor our oil & gas reserves, serve our clients in transportation and logistics, or protecting people, information, and cultural assets, CCJA is here to get you to the next level in the security profession. It demands knowledge, problem-solving skills, a team-work attitude, and demonstrated professionalism – every time you put on your uniform. Your CCJA team are educators, knowledgeable, highly motivated, and with practical experience to provide you with the information to be successful in your first of many professional development courses and workshops. We DO NOT teach you just to pass an exam. We facilitate so that you LEARN what is required to work in security, be part of a team, and protect the assets required of our businesses across this great province. And you will discover that our support will continue long after your course is finished. CCJA also provides opportunities with advanced training courses, professional coaching, resume and interview preparation, and other professional development opportunities.

Cancellation Policy

We have a strict no-refund policy for our PARE & COPAT test. Refunds are available for ABST & BDI Courses. There is a minimum required number of candidates to run the ABST & BDI courses. If the college does not reach the minimum required number of 10, the total deposit. full payment will be refunded. You can choose to hold a sea at our next course if you so choose.
